A Great Start

MANY CLIENTS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THEY CAN BEST PREPARE
FOR A FEASIBILITY STUDY.  IT'S WONDERFUL IF YOU CAN BRING SOME
NUMBERS, A BIT OF INSPIRATION, AND A LOT OF EXCITEMENT.

Here at Nugent Design Build, we want to listen to learn about your goals and your vision. From our first meeting forward, we'll discuss architecture, codes, layouts, budgets, and project feasibility.

LET'S MOVE FORWARD WITH A TEAM MINDSET AND
BE CLEAR ABOUT YOUR GOALS AND YOUR OBSTACLES

Initial meetings are a great chance for us to understand your expectations and desires. To describe them clearly, it's great if you could have a clear explanation of what you'd like the project to accomplish. We sometimes call this a "Wishlist" and could include anything from a list of room names, square footages, a description of your favorite primary bathroom, etc.

Next, what style should these rooms have? Many clients bring or send over a grouping of visual inspiration. Houzz and Pinterest are popular resources, as well as Word documents or simple a pile of magazine clippings. It's great if we could have a clear vision of how you'd like the exterior to appear, as well as one or more interior rooms.

We'll also want to understand as much as we can about the building location. It can be helpful to sending or bringing a plat (aka site plan) that explains the property's boundaries and the location of any existing structures, wells, septic locations, or easements. This plat helps us assess the size and location of the project and how local zoning and critical area codes may apply.

The most crucial piece of information you can bring with you is a clear mentality about how much you'd like to spend on the project. Many clients want to hold their cards close and let us bring a number to them, but this hinders our attempt to produce a concept that matches your intentions. If you don't know where to start with a budget, our
Project Costs insight article may help give some guidelines.

  • WE OFFER IN-HOUSE ARCHITECTS AND CONTRACTORS.

  • THERE IS NO NEED FOR A COMPETITIVE BIDDING PROCESS NOR COORDINATION BETWEEN DESIGNER AND BUILDER.

  • CIVIL OR STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS ARE SOMETIMES NEEDED OUTSIDE OF OUR CONTRACT.

THE MORE INFORMATION WE HAVE, THE MORE
